Spanish singer Camilo Sesto dead at Knowledge Translation — Often scientists write in a language understandable only by their colleagues. We break down stories published in peer-reviewed journals and reputable publications in a way that is understandable and interesting to the lay reader. We write entries using language that captivates and engages our readers. Information can contribute to knowledge and knowledge can result in action to protect our oceans.
We will reach out to regular visitors to the island such as park rangers, guards, and scientists to relay information about their trips and the condition of the island. Using this information, we seek to inform people of the scientific value and sheer beauty of Cocos Island and its inhabitants to engage them as we ask for their help in protecting it. Sea Save Foundation partners with dive companies and amateur underwater photographers around the world to crowdsource high-quality ocean images and video into a free, searchable database.
In return, we ask those who download and use photos and videos to share their projects with us; range of usage could run from from elementary school presentations to nonprofit grant applications. Advocacy means fighting to defend and protect that which you value. Sea Save Foundation believes in taking information to build knowledge, and using knowledge to take action to protect the oceans. CITES, the Convention on the International Trade in Endangered Species, is one of the international platforms where Sea Save Foundation courageously wages battle to protect threatened and endangered species from extinction.

We work with other non governmental organizations, scientists and delegates to explore the science and policy surrounding each species. Give Em the Fin is an interactive campaign that was used to launch a widespread global conversation.
This campaign provided a launchpad to discuss and underscore our goal to discourage the consumption of shark fin soup and to educate about the critical role sharks play in healthy ocean ecosystems. The campaign included education, advocacy, and activism on a global level including children and adults, students and scientists, individuals, and groups. This campaign involved information, used to increase knowledge and insight, that resulted in action. That action was leveraged into a global community activity and artwork. By definition, Advocacy in all its forms seeks to ensure that people, particularly those who are most vulnerable in society, are able to: Have their voice heard on issues that are important to them.
Defend and safeguard their rights. Have their views and wishes genuinely considered when decisions are being made about their lives. Sea Save Foundation chooses ocean issues and builds advocacy campaigns that enable people to leverage the power of intelligent debate, carefully researched and articulated facts and to use the power of the Internet and social media to communicate these democratic tenets to regional, national and international governing bodies.

Email Almost Done. First Name. Last Name. Virgin Islands Northern Mariana Islands. Postal Code. Previous Step Next Step. The Sea Save Foundation introduced me to the depths of the ocean, both in a literal and metaphorical sense. As a high school student, I had the opportunity to participate in two leadership expeditions. I went on these trips to learn to scuba dive and see some cool creatures but left with so much more. I developed a new perspective on the importance of our oceans, a commitment to philanthropy and most of all I left with a renewed confidence in my leadership abilities.
My overall experience with Sea Save has truly shaped the confident, passionate, and ambitious person I am today. As a result of marine exposure, I entered my undergraduate education at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute as an Environmental Engineering major. I hope that one day I will have the opportunity to tie my education and career together to make an impact on our oceans.
Sea Save Foundation are an amazing organization that are doing a great job for the oceans! I can recommend their work to all! Their commitment to save the oceans, especially in the area of shark finning, has helped produce positive results. Sea Save worked tirelessly in the legislative process to ban shark fin products in California. And their work in Cocos Islands have developed much-needed programs in education and their media helped to expand the protected area. Kudos to the organization.
Rescue ship plucks 85 from the sea as Richard Gere shines light on migrant plight
I was first introduced to Sea Save Foundation as a freshman in high school. While there, I learned so much more. I discovered a new found love of the ocean, not because of what we, as humans, can use it for, but for the wonderful creatures and things that can be found just below its surface. Sadly, not everyone sees the ocean like this and as a result, terrible pollution is happening.
But the amazing people of the Sea Save Foundation work to show the world what the ocean could be if we paid more attention.
They educate people worldwide through videos and photographs, blogs and magazines. I am now a freshman in college and will never ever forget the crucial lessons I learned working alongside these wonderful people, and will continue to help them any way I can. I was very proud to be apart of the success of the shark fin bill AB where Sea Save volunteer and Executive Director Georgienne Bradley spoke before the Senate Appropriations Committee to speak up about the impact this bill would have on the health of our oceans worldwide.
I am inspired and excited to continue to help Sea Save Foundation for our future generations. I have been a volunteer for Sea Save Foundation for the last two years. As a Program Manager, I examine the details and follow-through of nonprofit organizations and businesses.
